Greetings West Deptford! My name is Samantha Jones- Damminger and I reside in the Verga section of town. I have lived in West Deptford for 22 years. I have twins, a boy and girl who just graduated. My Daughter stayed in the West Deptford School District for her entire academic career. My son left West Deptford to attend GCIT to enroll in skilled trades, specifically welding. Fun fact, we have 2 American Hairless Terrier dogs, all skin – no fur. Yes, they feel like warm lunchmeat.
I am a high school teacher in my 26th year. I am running for the BOE for several reasons. I am deeply invested in the quality of our school system and want to ensure students receive the best possible education. Serving on the school board provides me with an opportunity to engage with the community and have a voice in decisions that affect students, families, and teachers. I will advocate for the needs of our district, including advocating for resources and policies that support schools and students at various levels of government. Overseeing the district budget and determining how taxpayer money is spent is very important to ensure sound financial management and efficient allocation of funds. Fostering a stronger relationship between the school board, teachers, parents, and community organizations will help bridge the gap when issues arise.
